Walton Homes supports Michelle Minshall on her Journey to the 2024 London Marathon!

14th August 2023

Michelle Minshall and her Husband, Rob Minshall, began their Journey with Walton Homes way before we even dug the first footing at Acresford Park. Rob’s father was a security guard at our completed development in Armitage.

With the experience of Walton Homes already in the family, Rob and Michelle kept their eyes on our upcoming developments. When Acresford Park’s planning went in, Michelle and Rob were excited to see that their luck was in!

Michelle was sold on the Oakwell after being informed there will be a walk-in dressing room on the second floor! We can’t say we blame Mr and Mrs Minshall for falling in love with the Oakwell. It truly is a beautiful home with such a luxurious internal layout.

After completing in April 2021, Michelle and Rob have seen the development grow into the picturesque development it continues to be today. They also knew this was their dream home from the street name alone, Michelle’s maiden name was Robinson and they now live happily on Robinson Way – the perfect match if you ask us!

“Lucy, our sales advisor, has been fantastic. Andy Shenton, the site manager, has been brilliant as well. and Amy (director) herself, because when we first moved in, she actually handed us our keys”

Michelle reached out to us and let us know that she will be running the London Marathon in 2024 for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of her mother, Sharon Robinson.

At Walton Homes, we are keen to support charities whether they’re large or small, so we were thrilled to be informed of her training towards this huge event.  We are honoured to sponsor Michelle with her endeavour on her JustGiving page, as well as providing a pair of fabulous Walton Homes X Roy Castle branded training tops.

We cannot wait to see all of Michelle’s hard work and dedication leading up to the London Marathon and we will be cheering her on all the way!

“Its an acheivement of a lifetime”

Why Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation?

After losing her amazing mum to stage 4 lung cancer, Michelle wanted to give back to the community which she felt connected and empowered to contribute toward their shared goal.

As a part of the Roy Runners, Michelle will be fundraising towards their goal of ‘defeating lung cancer’ once and for all.  It is the leading cause of cancer in ‘both men and women’, yet surprisingly it ‘receives only 6% of research funding’. The London Marathon is one of Roy Castle’s largest fundraising events of the year, as one of over 80 runners, Michelle is fundraising for £2,200 toward their goal – available via her JustGiving Page here: https://bit.ly/MichellesFundraiser

Michelle mentioned her motivation and what drove her towards the London Marathon and Fundraising:

“My mum has always been a hard worker and has always been about the community. So to me, this is everything that I think she would want me to do. I definitely got my work ethic from her, she was always working her absolute socks off”

The London Marathon is run over a largely flat course, around the River Thames, and spans 42km (that’s around 26 Miles – Go, Michelle!).

This exact work ethic and dedication is what keeps Michelle on track with her training towards the Marathon, and we cannot wait to see her in action next year.

In the meantime, we will be cheering Michelle on and following her training over on her dedicated Instagram page (@run_with_minshell89) – Make sure you follow along too!
