Developer Walton Homes has signed a sponsorship deal with a leading North Staffordshire cricket club, providing kits for Cheadle CC’s 1st XI.
The business has been announced as a major sponsor for the club, which is a member of the North Staffs & South Cheshire Cricket League, and the current holder of the knockout Talbot Cup.
Cheadle CC’s 1st Team play in the Premier Division, and fields five other senior teams across its two grounds, as well as junior sides playing from Under 8 level upwards.
Amy Summerton, Director at Walton Homes, said: “Over the last 35 years we have been big believers in building relationships with, and supporting, teams, charities and organisations operating within the the communities where we site our developments, albeit that our ability to do so has been limited over the last two years.
“This year, with a huge focus on our new Augustus Fields development in Cheadle, we wanted to work closely with an important organisation within the town, and there was really only one choice – you hear ‘Cheadle’, and you immediately think ‘cricket’!
“Cricket has been played in this part of the Staffordshire Moorlands for more than 150 years, and Cheadle Cricket Club’s home ground at Tean Road has become a social hub for the town and a vital part of its community, so we really wanted to show our support for this historical success story. We are proud to sponsor the team and we’re looking forward to spending summer days at Tean Road watching them play,” she said.
The club, which is preparing to celebrate its Centenary in 2024, presently has more people playing for it than at any other point in its history, and aims to continue its successful streak, which has included back-back wins in the Talbot Cup competition over the last couple of years, this season.
Stephen Plant, Chairman of Cheadle Cricket Club, said: “We would like to thank Walton Homes for joining us as our new major sponsors from 2022.
“The business is providing our 1st XI with coloured kit which will be used in the (pink ball) league and cup competitions over the upcoming season, as well as multiple advertising positions in and around Tean Road.
“Walton Homes’ support, alongside our other sponsors, means the club can continue to develop and carry out major projects including the completion of Pavilion renovation work and future developments which include a major refurbishment of our practise net facilities,” he added.
Walton Homes commenced work on the Augustus Fields development, located off Birchwood Grove, last year. Located close to the amenities of Cheadle town centre, the select collection of 39 high-specification three- to five-bedroom homes is expected to be completed later this year.
