Walton Homes receives third recognition award for site management and workmanship!

6th October 2023

The site manager of one of Walton Homes’ Staffordshire developments has been shortlisted for a national award recognising standards of excellence on construction sites.

Carl Brough, who manages Walton Homes’ 50-home Woodwinds development near Tamworth, has been named as the regional winner for the West Midlands within LABC Warranty Site Manager of The Year Awards, and faces stiff competition from 12 other finalists to be named the National Site Manager of the Year, one of the construction industry’s most prestigious awards given to outstanding sites from England and Wales, in January 2024.

The regional accolade comes just weeks after Carl was awarded his second Bricks Site Recognition Award by LABC Warranty, a trophy that rewards the standards of workmanship and overall management of a residential construction site.

Carl said: “I feel incredibly honoured to have been singled out for the regional award, particularly in such a highly competitive sector. I was delighted to receive my first The Bricks recognition award earlier this year in recognition of the standards of work, professionalism and expertise adhered to at Woodwinds, and thrilled to find we’d been selected a second time, but to have made it as a regional finalist is just amazing.

“Within the factors considered by the LABC team are health and safety, site tidiness and organisation, and standards of workmanship, all of which we take seriously here. Warton is a small, peaceful village and we are particularly careful that we don’t disrupt the surrounding area and nearby neighbours with our work. The whole team at Woodwinds takes real pride in their work, which certainly makes my job easier, and I think it’s important to say that I see this award as a recognition of the work carried out by the whole team responsible for the site.”

“Carl and his team’s dedication to maintaining excellent standards at Woodwind are a credit to our brand, and we are thrilled that he’s been chosen as an example of the best achievable standards in these important awards.

Amy Summerton, Director

Amy Summerton, Director for the business, added:

“Carl has extremely exacting standards and we’d like to thank him for his continuing efforts at the site, and the pride he takes in ensuring it always looks it’s best. It’s wonderful to see that we’re not the only ones who recognise his excellent work, and the whole business will be rooting for him when the national winner is announced in January,” she added.
