Homes are stamp duty free at Millfields, Tamworth

Local developer, Walton Homes, is giving househunters in Tamworth a helping hand by paying the stamp duty on all remaining properties at its Millfields development.
For a limited time only, Walton Homes will pay the stamp duty land tax on all homes purchased at its Millfields site on Brookside Way. This means purchasers could make a saving of up to £8,098 when buying the ‘Elford’ four bedroom detached house which is on the market for £269,950. This saving equates to the three per cent stamp duty that is payable on all properties in the UK priced between £250,001 and £500,000.
In addition to paying the stamp duty, Walton Homes will also fit out the new homes with the homeowners choice of either high-quality flooring or luxurious carpet to help make the moving in process as simple as possible.
Helen Rollason, sales manager at Walton Homes said: “With summer holidays to pay for and the kids being home from school, many people don’t believe that summer is an ideal time to buy a new home. With this in mind, we wanted to offer some new incentives at our Millfields site that would really help make the moving in process as easy as possible.
“Paying the stamp duty land tax means purchasers will save an average of £2,500 on their new property at Millfields, whether they are looking to buy their first home or move up the property ladder. A saving of one or three per cent may not sound that much, but this saving could cover the cost of a new sofa or help towards legal fees, which might make all the difference when purchasing a new home.”
Stamp duty land tax is payable on all homes over the cost of £125,000 with one per cent tax payable on homes priced between £125,000 and £250,000. This increases to three per cent for homes between £250,001 and £500,000 and four per cent for homes priced between £500,001 and £1 million. All homes at Millfields, bar the four bedroom Elford house, have a one per cent stamp duty charge.
