Overview
A construction forklift driver/site labourer is responsible for operating forklifts and performing general labour duties on a construction site. This role requires a combination of forklift operation to transport materials and manual labour tasks such as cleaning, protection and material handling. Safety awareness, attention to detail and teamwork are key to this position.
Forklift Operation
Safely operate forklifts to load, unload and move materials around the construction site.
Transport heavy building materials such as pallets, steel, concrete and other construction supplies.
Perform daily checks and maintenance of forklifts including fuelling and reporting any issues.
Ensure safe loading, unloading and stacking of materials to avoid accidents or product damage.
Material Handling
Assist with receiving and distributing materials to the designated areas on-site.
Help with loading and unloading delivery trucks.
Organise materials in storage areas to ensure easy access for tradespeople and other site workers.
Site Labour
Perform general labour tasks such as digging, lifting and carrying materials.
Assist in site clean-up, ensuring the area is free of debris, tools and hazardous materials.
Follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to construction schedules and safety protocols.
Certification
Valid forklift operator certification is required.
Construction safety certification.
Any other relevant health and safety certification.
Experience
Proven experience operating a forklift in a construction or industrial setting.
Previous experience in general construction.
Skills
Strong understanding of forklift safety regulations.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instruction.
