Walsall art competition is kicked-off by football stars

Housebuilder Walton Homes has, this week, teamed up with Walsall Football Club, to launch an art-inspired ‘dream room, dream team’ competition with pupils from Hillary Primary School in Pleck. Designed ahead of the launch of Walton’s new show apartment opening at Navigation Point on Bescot Road, 90 pupils will now go head-to-head to design, draw, colour-in or paint a dream bedroom, but which also references its dream football team Walsall FC, situated just a football-pitch length away from the school. Kicking-off the competition recently, Walton Homes’ sales manager Helen Rollason joined midfielder Anthony Forde and winger Ashley Grimes – they visited the school to outline the competition and pupils were then given the opportunity to pose questions to the players. Ms. Cherry, head teacher from Hillary Primary School, said: “We are delighted that Walton Homes selected us for this competition and the children were thrilled that Walsall FC players took time out of their training to come and see us.” The children now have a month to complete their art work and the players will then return to the school to help judge and hand-out prizes, some of which include family tickets to one of the Club’s home matches. When finalised, all entries will then be displayed in the show apartment which is due to open on 4th April. Helen Rollason, sales manager for Walton Homes, comments: “Working with local communities is important to us and because Navigation Point is just a stone’s throw away from Walsall FC and Hillary Primary School, we thought that there was a natural fit for us to link with both of them.” Marc Wilkes from Walsall FC said: “Outreach activities are extremely important to us as a team and when they are not training, our players try to visit as many schools as possible to inspire children to play more sport and support us – and with our Wembley match now just a few weeks away, we need as many supporters as we can to help take us to victory!” At Navigation Point there is a selection of one- and two-bedroom apartments now for sale.
