Investors snap up Walsall apartments

16th November 2015

Investors in the West Midlands have cashed in on Walsall Healthcare Trust’s commitment to increase the number of nurses and support workers by snapping up properties in the town to rent to the new workforce.

Walton Homes has sold two thirds of its available homes on the Navigation Point apartment complex on the outskirts of the town centre in just six week, mainly to investors planning to let them to nurses, locum doctors and support workers.

Amy Summerton, director of Walton Homes, said: “There are 18 apartments at Navigation Point and we have sold two thirds of them within a matter of weeks, with the majority being on buy-to-let mortgages. We were surprised at the speed of the sales and the fact that they were mostly investment purchases, and on digging a little further, we discovered the opportunity that was being maximized.

“At the beginning of this year, Walsall Healthcare Trust was forced to declare a major incident due to the demand on resources and subsequently drew up winter plans to deal with the expected influx in patients.

“The NHS agreed to invest £3.5 million in more than 80 registered nurses and 35 care support workers, with the intention of all of them being in place by the autumn, and savvy investors have recognised that those people will need to rent homes close by. Navigation Point fitted the bill perfectly,” she said.

Navigation Point is a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments located on Bescot Road and set in scenic grounds with personal parking spaces and excellent transportation links to Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

Amy added: “The properties are all completed to high levels of specification and make ideal investments for buy-to-let landlords and those starting on the property ladder – we’re delighted that their potential has been recognised.”

Five apartments remain at Navigation Point, with a starting price of £84,950. To view or for further information, contact the sales office between 11am and 5pm Thursday to Monday on 01922 615056.
