School art competition is a sporting success

15th May 2015

To celebrate the opening of the new show apartment and sales cabin at Walton Homes’ Navigation Point development in Walsall, children from Hillary Primary School in Pleck proudly showed off their drawings, this week, in the finale of a colouring competition organised by the developer and Walsall FC. Launched just over a month ago, the competition asked pupils from the school to design, draw, colour-in or paint a dream bedroom, but with a Walsall FC theme – situated just a stone’s throw away from the school! Walton Homes’ sales manager Helen Rollason, said: “All 15 children who made it through to the final made a fantastic job of drawing their dream room – it was an extremely difficult decision to select just three winners but there were some great sporting themes to all three finalists. The drawings will now go on display in the new show apartment at the development on Bescot Road.” The winner was Samiya Ahmed, aged 7 – she scooped top prize of a match ticket to a home game at the Saddlers, Rohan Qazi and Firza Akram, both aged 7 were runners-up and each took home WH Smith vouchers for their artistic efforts. Ms. Cherry, head teacher from Hillary Primary School, said: “We would like to thank Walton Homes and Walsall FC for selecting our school for this competition and we look forward to seeing all of the drawings displayed in the new show apartment.” The sales cabin at Navigation Point is now open, where visitors are invited to see the selection of one- and two-bedroom apartments now for sale.
